It had been more than two years since the start of the Covid pandemic and during this time we were adhering to Covid rules guidance not to encourage gathering in the villages, hence we made no glasses distribution until today. We were very excited that finally our support for the senior artisans can now be resumed.
Today, the 20th of March, after months of planning, we finally managed to make our 1st glasses distribution, the first in 2022, supporting basket artisans in the village of Sigapiton, on the shore of Lake Toba, North Sumatra, Indonesia.
We are truly grateful to our volunteers there, particularly to Dinda Siboro, who has organised the gathering and helped with the distribution. We hope to continue distributing glasses to many more senior artisans in the region.
Our special thanks to Olvira Ballo, who has been extremely loyal to our glasses project, devoting so much of her time to ensuring that glasses are heading to the right artisans’ group. Thank you so much, Ira. We look forward to supporting more senior artisans in the region soon.
Our sincere gratitude to everyone, who has made this project sustainable to date.
