Ulos is a name given to traditional woven cloth from Tano Batak, North Sumatra. If you have not heard of Ulos, follow our regular updates here on our blog site, where we will be featuring some of the Indonesian traditional textiles from many parts of Indonesia regularly. We will be sharing some information about ulos and provide you with some insights to these amazing textiles.
Recently many fashion designers have adopted ulos as one of their favourite materials. We meet up with Vilidius Siburian & Mathilda Manurung-Sitorus, two of Indonesian new designers who have successfully produced amazing fashion items made from vintage Ulos.
Watch the video to hear their stories (Apology that the video is in Indonesian, not subtitled).
