Connect Indonesia was founded in January 2000 in the UK, by a small group of caring individuals who are passionate about Indonesia. This fully volunteer-driven community organisation brings together people who have an interest in Indonesia to provide educational opportunities and support human and economic development. Each and every member of the team works for Connect Indonesia is 100% Voluntarily, do not receive any salary, in other words, 100% unpaid.
As quoted by Margaret Mead:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has”
The above quote has strengthened our believes that each and every one of us can work together to form an amazing team of volunteers to create and manage successful and sustainable grassroots projects in Indonesia.
We are currently focusing on managing a community project called “Seeing is Believing” where we regularly donate reading glasses to senior workers in remote part of Indonesia, particularly those who are involved in the production traditional Ikat weaving, basket making and other similar craft works.
In addition to our grass-roots projects in Indonesia, we also organise cultural events and small exhibitions in the UK, sharing some of Indonesia’s most amazing arts, culture & traditions with the British public. In the past few years, we have successfully created several events and exhibitions and we hope to do more in the near future.
